A CALL TO REVIVAL
At the beginning of July, our church hosted our 2nd annual prophetic conference with the theme "A Call to Revival". We had about 100 people coming to each of the meetings from Cluj and other parts of Romania. We also had pastors come from Albania and from Russia. The teaching was so incredible and truly words of life and of the Spirit to
us. It was one of few occasions when I sensed that I was being changed right there in my chair.
The first night of the conference, all hell broke loose. Strange problems happened all throughout the day to various members of our leadership team. Just prior to the start of the worship, our projector mysteriously stopped working…one minute it was working and the next minute a blank screen. We sent several of our intercessors to pray urgently for the projector. Within a few minutes the projector suddenly came back on again! During the worship, one of the neighbors became greatly agitated by what was happening in our meeting. She began to shout obscenities from her window. The police showed up twice because of complaints about noise. We later learned the calls were made by a Satanist attending the meetings. And to top it all off, while Bill Norton was preaching, the same agitated neighbor started spraying large quantities of water through the windows with a garden hose. Obviously, the devil was hopping mad at what we were doing!
In spite of all the opposition, during each meeting the heavens opened and wave after wave of God’s presence swept through the room. People received powerful deliverances, healings in their bodies, and destiny-changing prophetic words. The weary were refreshed, the discouraged were raised up and everyone went from there knowing they had met with God. It was really an awesome time in God’s Shekinah Cloud.
OUTREACH TO LOCAL GYPSY COMMUNITIES
David and two young men from our church went with boldness and faith to “Iris”, one of the poorest communities in Cluj. It is an impoverished slum area, crime-ridden and violent, a neighborhood where mostly Gypsies live and everyone else avoids. With an unheard of approach, they went door to door, knocked and offered to pray for the sick in each household. The first person they prayed for was an old man with aches and pains all over. After being healed, he was pain free and started bending and twisting, movements he couldn’t do before. Many other healings followed.
Since then a team has gone weekly to the same area. Starting with a couple of worship songs, God fills the place with His presence. A simple message to stir up faith is followed by prayer. Then the miracles start to happen. A girl with hepatitis and pain in her liver was healed; a young lady who was completely deaf in one ear and could only hear very little with the other ear could suddenly hear clearly with both ears! A young boy came with a cast on his broken arm. His arm was instantly restored as soon as hands were laid on him! And there have been countless other healings and deliverances.
But the story doesn’t stop there. Gabi, one of the young ladies who saw all of this with her own eyes told her sister, Susana what she had seen God do. Gabi must have been
convincing because her sister then invited David to come with his team to her neighborhood, in Ira, another community of gypsies in another corner of the city. David asked me to join the team in ministering to this new area.
Susana invited neighbors, relatives and friends. As we started, I counted 19 adults and 15 children gathered around in her courtyard. We sang and David shared a simple message about healing. God’s presence came so tangibly. Then we offered to pray. The response was slow at first. We prayed for a lady with severe back pains. She was healed and tried out her “new” back…no pain and complete freedom of movement. Another came with a painful knee problem. We prayed and God healed her too. You could see the excitement on her face. The atmosphere became charged with reactions of wonder! The third person confessed that she had AIDS. God touched her powerfully as we prayed. After that I looked up and there were no longer 19 adults but now about 50! They were all straining to see and also pressing forward for prayer for their healing too. We prayed for a lady paralyzed on her right side and who had been in a wheelchair for years… She said she felt heat pulsing through her right arm and leg. Many others were healed and delivered on the spot. God had everyone's attention!
By the second meeting we began to hear peoples’ stories. The lady with AIDS had gone for a blood test. The doctor marveled that this was the best result she had ever had with her blood! The lady paralyzed on her right side told us that she had walked with assistance across the courtyard. She demonstrated how she could now move her foot, open and close her hand, bend her arm at the elbow and raise her arm over her head.
THE BEST IS YET TO COME
God is exalting His name and revealing His mighty power, but also revealing His goodness and tenderheartedness. We have seen God do so many wonderful things and yet our hearts long for still more. We read the Gospels and the book of Acts in the Bible, we read about past revivals, we read about revivals that are happening in various parts of the world. We know there is so much more that can happen. And we long for a real outpouring of the Spirit of God that changes us, that changes Cluj and all Romania. This is not yet revival… but it is the promise that more is on the way. Like Jesus said to Nathanael at the beginning of His ministry: “You believe because [of this]? You shall see greater things than that. I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open…” John 1:50 As I have said many times and yet I believe it more now than ever… the best is yet to come.
What a time to be here in Romania! Thank you so much for your part in making my being here a reality. May God open heaven for you too.
Honored to be in His service,
Suzie
Prayer Requests
1. August 26-31 we host an evangelistic camp for high school students/ September 12-17 for college students. We will host 45 non-Christian participants at each camp and pray for an encounter with God during that week that radically changes their lives and eternal destinations.
2. Pray for salvation and radical conversion of the gypsies in Iris and Ira communities. Pray that God raise mature and committed leaders in each community.
3. Please pray for breakthrough in my financial situation. I need God’s increasing provision as ministry expenses increase.
